Bloodwood

Scientific Name - Pterocarpus rohrii Vahl

Common Name - Bloodwood

The bloodwood gets it's name from the colouration of it sap. The Sap of the tree looks like blood with it thick red colour. It is considered to be a medium sized evergreen tree up to 30 meters in height with a 1 meter diameter trunk. The Bark is smooth and greenish in appearance, with small horizontal lenticels.

  Flower: Small Yellow coloured and about 1cm in length

Fruit: 5cm diameter, Flattish in appearance with broad wing-like shape
