The Chaguaramas Development Authority (CDA) on Saturday October 23, 2010, hosted the unions representing workers at the organization by facilitating a tour that offered an insight into the area managed by the Authority.

CDA, whose workers are represented by three unions, undertook the tour as an initiative designed to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the parties, while highlighting the potential of Chaguaramas as a recreational destination.

Members of the CDA management team, led by CEO Judith M.S Mark, showcased the popular recreational sites, both on and offshore, to the union representatives including PSA President Watson Duke (monthly paid workers), EPA President Edison Munroe (security officers) and NUGFW 1st Deputy President Christopher Street (daily paid workers).

The tour included visits to the Macqueripe recreational facility, Chaguaramas Golf Course, St Chad’s Anglican Church/Mt Pleasant Estate as well as to the Tracking Station, Tucker Valley Farm,  Chaguaramas Hotel and Convention Centre, the Welcome Centre and Gaspar Grande Island where the unions viewed the magnificent Gasparee Caves. CDA tour guide Mervin Alleyne provided historical details about the various sites and information on the area’s flora and fauna.

Union representatives welcomed the opportunity and indicated that they had a better understanding and appreciation of the value of Chaguaramas to the country’s tourism thrust.  CEO Mark reiterated that the union’s support was crucial in making Chaguaramas a premier destination that both locals and foreigners can continue to enjoy.
