Expansion of the Chaguaramas Golf Course

The Chaguaramas Development (CDA) is in the process of extending the nine-hole (9) public golf course in Chaguaramas by an additional 37 hectares to an eight-teen hole (18) golf course. The Environmental Management Authority (EMA) requires an Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) for this project.

The EIA will take into account various factors such as:-

  • Identifying the current physical, biological and socioeconomic environment.

  • Monitoring and evaluating the development activities.

  • Predicting impacts, actual and anticipated, and proposing mitigation measures to ensure that unpredicted impacts or inappropriate mitigation measures are identified and addressed in a timely fashion.

  • Biodiversity.

Environment Impact Assessment ensures that environmental implications of decisions are recognized before decisions are implemented. The EIA provides an opportunity to related socioeconomic and biodiversity related issues.

As part of the EIA there must be consultations (at least four) with the public to assist in the identification and mitigation of impacts while perverting environmentally unacceptable development, controversy, confrontation and delay. Stakeholders have been invited who can assist in the provision of information relevant to the project and from whom we can seek input into its feasibility as it relates to the impact assessment process.
