Samaan park to Golf Course and Back to Samaan Park

The walk is aimed at commemorating the efforts of a distinguished group of citizens led by Dr. Eric Williams in 1960 towards regaining Chaguaramas for the people of Trinidad and Tobago.  The walk is themed – “CDA 5K Walk for Chaguaramas, Keeping History Alive”.

The CDA has partnered with Rainbow Warriors who has assumed responsibility for the co-ordination of the walk. Citizens are encouraged to participate in this opportunity to relive history by registering at any Sports and Games store or at the CDA’s  head office.

A shuttle service will be provided from 6.00 am to take participants from the Chaguaramas Hotel and Convention Centre to Samaan Park.

THE WALK

The walk will start at the Samaan Park turning right onto the Macqueripe Mail Road and then right onto the Bellerand Road. The route will take the walkers along the Chaguaramas Golf Course and finally, back to the Samaan Park.

At the end of the walk, walkers will be entertained by a pan-round-the-neck band and music would be provided by a popular DJ. There would also be an exhibition where persons attending will relive the 1960 walk by former Prime Minister,  Dr Eric Williams. Literature on Chaguaramas as well as exhibits will be on display and in addition, participants will receive a commemorative medal indicative of their efforts at keeping  history alive.

CDA’s Environmental Mascot “ Chaggy” would also make an appearance on the day of the walk Sunday 28^th June to spread the message of environmental preservation.
